Snowboarding Tricks: Grabs

The following is a list of grabs you can perform doing snowboard tricks. For each jump, use a decent sized jump that you will be
comfortable with. At the launch, make sure that your knees are bent while your body is centered over the board.

As you explode upwards at the lip into the air, do not, at any time, bend your back or anything else so that you can reach your board. Instead, bring the board towards you by immediately sucking up your board so that you can perform a grab.

For style and balance, stretch out your other hand (which is not being used for grabbing the board).

To prepare for landing, release the grab a couple of feet above the ground and absorb the impact by making sure your base is flat to the ground.

Indy. Grab your board between your bindings on the toe-edge with your rear hand.

To perform an Indy Nosebone, straighten your front leg while doing the Indy grab. To perform an Indy Tailbone, straighten your rear leg instead.

Mute. Grab your board between your bindings on the toe-edge with your front hand.

Again, you can do a Mute Nosebone or Tailbone by stretching out your front or rear leg respectively while performing the Mute grab.

Stalefish. Grab your board between your bindings at the heel-edge with your rear hand.

Melon. Grab your board between your bindings at the heel-edge with your front hand.

Method. Hit something to launch yourself into the air, arch your back and bend your knees so that your board is behind you towards your butt. Grab the board on the heel-edge with your front hand.
